Taieri Parents Centre run six FREE weekend courses each year, offering pregnant people and their birth support partner a course that will enrich and empower them with knowledge about their journey ahead, as they prepare for one of life’s greatest experiences; childbirth and becoming parents.
As parents we need to be able to make informed choices. Having attended a Childbirth Education class will allow you to be confident with knowledge gained to ask questions and make informed decisions about your treatment/care.
We are very fortunate to have a highly qualified, supportive and approachable educator who is passionate about looking after babies and their parents. Our educator is a mother, NCUI nurse and lactation consultant at Dunedin Hospital. She is the best!
These classes also allow you to meet other parents who are sharing the same experiences as you, we make up a class Facebook page to put up resources, birth announcements and a place to chat and stay in contact. After having baby many families continue going to the centre attending our Bump and Bubs and music sessions.

Upcoming Course Dates:
We are delighted to be able to offer these classes free of charge (with no membership required) thanks to the support of the Lottery Otago/Southland Community Committee. Classes run from 10am-4pm both days, and we recommend you complete the course by the time you are around 36 weeks pregnant.

Our music and movement classes provide a fun, baby-friendly environment to learn about and participate in some of the activities that help build a strong foundation for our children’s development and future learning. This includes: nursery rhymes, action songs and finger plays; instruments and sound exploration; and a wide range of activities in our movement section.
Taieri Parents Centre offers:
Monday Music Jigglers – 0 to 2 years old
Monday 10:00 – 11am
Friday Music Gym – 2 to 5 yrs old
Friday 9:30 – 10.30am
